Daniel Franke (PhD ’18 in Chemistry) will share his personal stories. After obtaining his bachelor and master’s degree at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, Daniel came to MIT to pursue his PhD study under the supervision of Prof. Moungi Bawendi, focusing on quantum dots and their applications in biomedical imaging. During his time at MIT, Daniel served as the Chair of the Board of Muddy Charles Pub and was a member of the Venture Capital and Private Equity Club. After graduating from MIT, Daniel has been working as a Senior Associate at the Cambridge office of M Ventures, the venture capital arm of the science and technology company Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. At M Ventures, Daniel focuses on investments in advanced materials and tech. Cutting across the academic and business world, Daniel would have a lot to share on his successful transition from PhD to VC among other topics. Young Alumni Fireside chat features the career trajectory of an MIT grad alum.
